Unloading & Shaking Out Stairs
- Use a Crane and /or Forklift when unloading stairs.(most cases a forklift is best)
- Make sure that the lay-down is a firm area, properly graded, well drained and accessible and out of the way of erection activities.
- If the stair fights and landings have different piece marks and room permits, do not stack and leave space between stairs flights to get forks under stairs when needed.
- It is best to bring stairs and landings with forklift to crane when ready to erect them.
- If the stairs and landings are going to be going into a stair well that dose not allow you to use a sling to erect them, when shaking them out flip the flight work-wise and have a crew weld on lifting eyes before the crane is waiting to erect them.
Unloading Stairs – can be done with a forklift or crane, in most cases a forklift is best. It is best to place in and open area and not put stair flights in front of each other, so you do not have to move stair flights to get the one in the back. If the stair flight and landings have different piece marks and room permits do not stack and leave space between stairs flights to get forks under the stairs when needed.
Shaking out Stairs – it is best to bring stairs and landings with forklift to crane when ready to erect them.
